The embossed leather card holder, for the other pocket.

A pocket-size metal case for your cards and folded bills. It opens like a book. An old pharmacy label with a skull and a warning. The lettering is Victorian.

Description

The old pocket case of the Paris bistrot, reworked for your cards. Period art on the lid.

An old object, a new job. The flat metal case that once slid across a zinc bar in Pigalle, now sized for cards and cash.
Period art on the lid. Bitter Tonic, on a pocket-size metal case.

The design

An old pharmacy label marked with a skull and a warning, in Victorian lettering.

Made for

Anyone who'd rather pull out a bit of history, and a good story, than a black rectangle.

Once made for cigarettes. Now made for cards.

Picture Paris between the wars. A bistrot below Pigalle, a zinc counter, a cabaret poster curling off the wall. Every regular at the bar keeps a flat metal case in his breast pocket, and every lid has something to say. We kept the case and changed the job. It now carries your cards and folded cash. No smoke, same attitude.

The art on the lid comes from that same old world: vintage labels, Art Nouveau posters, gothic engravings, retro prints, the kind of thing you'd find framed above a bistrot bench. Old images, a new everyday object, with a wink. Pick the one that speaks to you, then change your mind next season. New objects with old souls.

Style

Illustration: Bitter Tonic
Finish: Glossy, over the art
Interior: Room for cards and folded bills
Closure: Clicks shut

Specifications

A rigid metal shell that keeps your cards flat.

Light marks appear with time, especially next to keys. That is normal wear, not a defect.

Inspiration

The pocket case

Why a case
The flat metal case was born in the nineteenth century to keep cigarettes from crushing in a pocket.
By the Art Deco years, it had become a small luxury carried close to the chest.
We kept the case and gave it a new job: your cards, with art on the lid.

What's inside

Rigid metal
A metal shell that keeps your cards flat.
Art on the lid
Each case carries one period illustration.
Room for your cards
Your everyday cards, or a few cards and folded bills.

Questions

Questions, answered

How many cards fit?

Your everyday cards, or a few cards plus folded cash. Embossed cards take a little more room.

Will the art scratch?

Light marks appear with time, especially next to keys. Many people like the worn-in look. Keep it in a pocket of its own to keep it crisp.

Is it a cigarette case?

No. It's sized and sold for cards and cash. We don't sell or promote tobacco.

Does it block RFID?

We don't claim it does. It hasn't been tested for that.

How does the offer work?

One tin case is $49. Buy 2 and get a 3rd free: 3 for $79, shipped free. Buy 4 and get 2 free: 6 for $119. Mix designs as you like.

Can I return it?

Yes, within 30 days of receiving it, new, unused and in its original packaging. Email us first; once your return is approved, we send you our return address in France. Return shipping is paid by you, and the original shipping cost is not refunded. We refund your original payment method within 5-10 business days after we receive the parcel.

What if an item is defective or wrong?

Email us photos within 7 days of receiving your order. We pay for the return, then you choose: we send you the right item, or we refund you in full, shipping included.
